Professor Neely Downloads...

Professor Neely was relased last tusaday and I'm happy to say has been downloaded over 300 times!
Yes I know that that isn't very impressive by the usual big time Internet download standards but I'm small time so I don't care, I'm still happy!

Also a big thanks to everyone who has played or will play the game!

My computer is currently dead and I'm posting from an relatives comp, I don't know when I will be able to fix all this.
So until then I won't be able to update the comic and Some things Like the game May be lost(though probably not) .

I think it's the power supply, hopefully it will be.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween to one and all
on the spookiest night of the fall!
May your imagination run wild as the lights flicker
while sugary treats make stomachs increasingly sicker .
As you succumb to the perils of all enveloping fright
Remember to have a wonderful Halloween night.

Incidentally if you have nothing to do on Halloween be like me! Enjoy a dark room and Black Butler.

( Un-dubbed of course)

A trip down nostalgia lane

If like me you grew up during the 1980's or 90"s then you probably have fond memories of all the NES and Game boy games from your childhood.Well time to relive all the retro goodness because you can play those games for free thanks to the folks at the Open Emulation Project. They have lovingly emulated all the classics and enabled them to run in your web browser with nothing to download.  Not content with just NES or GB games they recently announced the virtual SNES site to be released on February 14th 2011.

So what are you waiting for? Go play SMB3 or The Legend Of Zelda!

Some thoughts on art and criticism

As I sit here working on a personal project I'm redoing some Illustrations for I find myself realizing that when it comes to the mater of creative feedback I now find myself usually wanting to trust my instincts rather than the sometimes well meaning but unhelpful input of others.

It really comes down to a communication problem and a stigma nowadays that any criticism is bad. Now it’s true that there’s a lot of art theory and terminology that quite often goes over most folks heads but at the end of the day after I put myself through the agony of seeking out some constructive criticism I usually end up more unsure about my next course of action or weather I was better off before.

Some of the types of responses from such bad critics are usually as follows:

The “It’s the best ever” response.

These people are the ones who for some reason think that a being constructive critic means giving nothing but complements and stating how much they like what ever it is you happened to show them without giving a reason for doing so. In my experience they usually don’t know how to critique something or more likely are the type of person who doesn’t like criticism or thinks criticizing your work is akin to insulting you.

The “It‘s not my thing but it‘s good.” response.

These are the ones who have decided for what ever reason that they don’t like what your showing them because it’s not something that’s in their comfort zone of what they can relate to. Sometimes this reaction can be really bad especially when it seems that the person you just showed your art to acts like you’re their personal H.R. Giger to their Thomas Kinkade. Any hope you had of a thoughtful opinion is usually lost due to the fact that they will now do their best to not offend you.

The “this is how I do it and your ill-informed for not coming to the same conclusion.” response.

This is usually someone who has decided that they are the authority on such topics as the one your seeking an opinion on and that your blessed for having their final word on the matter. We all hate this one and this is one of those cases were I usually don’t bother.

There are others but I suppose my point is that although I do enjoy getting input from others it's not always helpful and when it comes to certain choices my first instincts are usually not to far of from were I end up in the end.

Weakly comic Jackanapes on the horizon

I’ll be starting a weekly comic shortly on the blog, as of now I plan to call it Jackanapes.
It will most likely be updated every Sunday.

Grumble, Grumble, toil and low traffic

Not even I can escape boredom, So I polished this pace up with a shiny new title.

I'm also completing an unorthodox voodoo ritual Involving two new projects, a weakly comic and the other a series of animated game and movie reviews.

Alas I can not reveal them till the stars are right, and I get them to a place were I feel I can release them.

Looking good or hardly looking?

Well I cleaned this place up a bit, re-made the background and cleaned up my info.
Nothing else to do now but wait.

On second thought it might be better if I put something up here, Like comics or I could review something or even some animation.

well I guess I'll come up with something.

Full intro Disney's Epic Mickey is out.

I was bumbling about on the net and discovered that the full Intro to the up coming Wii title Epic Mickey has been floating around and I honestly have to say that I'm impressed. Now the only question is how does it play.

Pixar Shares artwork from Newt , *pout*

Pixar Shares artwork from now defunct film Newt. It's a shame I was looking forward to seeing this, however I'm sure they had a good reason for not proceeding with the production, on a similar note if they decided to drop this in favor of oh say Cars 2 or Monsters inc. 2 I might be a little miffed.

Ok, I'm miffed, Mostly because that is indeed what appears to have happened also this marks (to my knowledge) the first time Pixar has flat out canceled a feature this far along and the disappointing thing is we aren't going to see any original properties out of the studio for some time. Another concern about this is from what I know of Pixar, when one of your projects has a problem you work it out and your usually better for it, this is what they did on Ratatouille however this time they just canceled something in the production pipe line, and went with the safer bet of cranking out a few sequels. To sum up my point I’m just concerned that maybe we’re getting a to much Disney in are Pixar and not enough Pixar in are Disney.
